Sulfume Sulphur Vapourizer

SULFUME is the most effective and economical way to control powdery mildew, blackspot and botrytis in roses and other greenhouse grown flowers. One SULFUME will treat 1,076 sq. ft. (100 sq. m.), or 40 – 50 SULFUMES per acre. Normally used for an eight hour period at night, SULFUME will vapourize about 2 grams of rock sulphur per eight hour period.

The heat plate within the SULFUME is constantly and automatically regulated to a fixed temperature. SULFUME is voltage independent, even if there are fluctuations in the current, and will always maintain the same temperature. With temperature control, Sulfume reduces electricity consumption from 100 watts to 50 watts as soon as the desired temperature is achieved.

A competitor’s unit that heats up above 160C causes burning of the sulphur. When this happens, it oxidizes and sulphur dioxide is formed. As it is lighter than air, it rises and adheres to the condensation that exists on the underside of the plastic or poly covering of the greenhouse. Sulphuric acid is then formed which breaks down the UV inhibitor system which protects the plastic from UV degradation, thus rendering the plastic film vulnerable to the UV rays of the sun. In contrast, SULFUME vapourizes rock sulphur at a temperature running at about 155C. At this level, sulphur does not burn.
