Re-bale hay the easy way!
The Altec Re-baler produces the most natural Re-baled bales for both hay and straw.
Why Re-bale hay & straw using the Altec Re-baler?
Simple, Economics.
- You can bale hay using a round baler and get the crop in faster with less labour than baling small square bales in the field. Round baling by its nature is faster, if you have a short time window of good weather, round baling is your best bet.
- Re-baling can be done any time of the year and be done in doors, in the winter when the demand for hay is greater.
- Rising labour cost have hindered square bale production in the field as it takes more time and labour to square bale and bring the harvest in.
- The growth of the horse business and nonfarm estate residential homes keeping horses has created a large demand for small square baled hay at the retail level.
- By re-baling on demand, you have the freshest hay!
- Hay will keep fresher in large round bales than small squares. You can re-bale on demand and tag the bale with “bale date” tag for market freshness.
- You can purchase a round bale of hay wholesale and re-bale the average round into about 20-22 small square. When sold at the retail level you will experience about a 250 – 300% mark up.
How the Altec Re-baler works:
The re-baler.com is the most “natural” machine for re-baling on the market.
When a round bale is place in the Altec’s Re-balers Spring loaded variable sized chamber, it assumes a concave shape.
When the bars and chains are activated, they will want to carry the bale uphill.
The bale will now want to run downhill creating a “snowball” effect to unwind.
The re-baler simply uses gravity to reverse what your round baler did.
The spring loaded variable sized bale chamber always assumes the correct shape and pressure.
The Altec Re-baler has no heavy hydraulic compacting rollers, spinning blades, fluffers, shredders or anything that will potentially damage the hay or straw being re-baled. The hay is then fed into the hay baler with the least intrusion or damage.
The Altec Re-baler uses the gentlest process for both hay and straw.
If you put an Altec Re-baled bale next to a field baled bale, you will have a hard time telling the difference between the two bales!
By Re-baling you can reverse what your round baler did in 5 minutes to convert a large round bale into approximately 20-22 small square bales. The Altec Re-baler is the most natural, gentle re-baler on the market.
The Re-Baler sits in front of the square baler and is operated hydraulically from the tractor. Self-adjustable bottom keeps the bale at the right height as the round bale feeds into the square baler. The drive chains on the unwinder change according to the actual weight of the bale as it unwinds.
A valve on the side of the bale unwinder controls the speed with a forward and reverse switch on the same side. Hay originally baled as round bales will often keep ‘fresher’ than small square bales. By re-baling hay as needed into small square bales, the bales are often better quality hay.
No crushing rollers, spinning blades or obstructions to potentially break the stalks and knock the leaves off your hay.
Wide Exit
- The wide exit on the re-baler allows for easy transfer of the unwound bale into the baler.
